In Conversation with: Mohamed El Nahi, Chief Executive Office, NGX Global

As the global energy landscape accelerates toward a climate-neutral and secure energy future, the need for real leadership, practical solutions, and visionary thinking has never been greater. ‘In Conversation With’ is a new blog series from Dii Desert Energy that spotlights the voices shaping the energy transition across the MENA region and beyond.

Mohamed El Nahi, Chief Executive Office, NGX Global

Mohamad El Nahi is a change maker entrepreneur, sustainability advocate, and the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of NGX Global. Under his leadership, NGX Global is making strides to democratize climate finance and embed real-time environmental insights into business decision making. Mohamad leads the mission to “shake up the status quo,” in environmental data by enabling accessible, transparent climate solutions for organizations, projects, and stakeholders. He brings over 18 years of experience in conventional energy until he moved into sustainable technology, data analytics, and environmental markets across the MENA and EU.

In his current role, Mohamad oversees the company’s vision and drives product innovation and partnerships while steering the team toward impact in the climate and carbon ecosystems. He is focused on bridging the gap between environmental goals and financial viability. Through NGX Global, Mohamad aims to make climate finance more inclusive, transparent, and effective for companies and projects that find access to carbon markets complex or vague.

About NGX Global

NGX Global is a climate tech company with the mission of leveraging technology to make environmental benefits accessible to all. It oversees Next Green Tech Ltd that provides platforms for emissions management, environmental attributes enablement through Digital MRV, and supply chain decarbonization, with tools Reality and Trace and the Insetting Energy Bank. Its notable tool, Reality, is a platform for real-time emissions monitoring, management, and reporting across transport, logistics, and industrial operations.

Additionally, NGX Global oversees Carbon Collect Systems Ltd that implements carbon projects internationally. With teams across MENA, this fast-growing company enables businesses and organizations to turn environmental initiatives into operational and financial value. NGX Global is driven by technical innovation, transparency, strong governance, and sustainability. Supported by regional and international investors in climate tech, NGX Global unites stakeholders of all sizes to take climate action.

What are you currently focusing on? And why is this important now?

At NGX, we’re focused on three critical fronts:

  1. Digital MRV and AI-enabled access to carbon markets: making it easier for small and medium projects to generate verified credits.
  2. Enterprise emissions management: helping companies measure, manage, and report emissions across distributed assets with ISO-aligned accuracy.
  3. The Insetting Energy Bank: redefining how renewable energy is accounted for and allocated within supply chains using IoT and mass-balance principles.

These initiatives matter because the next decade demands scale, precision, and transparency. Manual MRV and fragmented reporting exclude smaller players from participating in climate markets. By digitizing these systems, we’re opening new pathways for verified impact, operational efficiency, and climate finance inclusion.

“These initiatives matter because the next decade demands scale, precision, and transparency.”

What do you see the impact of the above focus being on the industry?

Our approach will democratize access to environmental markets.

By enabling smaller and mid-scale projects to enter carbon markets through digital MRV and Program of Activities (PoA) frameworks, we increase both project viability and regional participation. This shift transforms sustainability from a compliance burden into a tangible economic opportunity, where verified data drives value, transparency, and investor confidence across sectors and push supply chain decarbonization.

What will you be discussing at the Dii Desert Energy Leadership Summit this year?

In line with the theme of “Energy Transformation in MENA: Vision. Implementation. Jobs,” I’ll be speaking about challenges and opportunities in this region across three areas.

First, I will speak about how the logistics sector can decarbonize in areas where there are little to no incentives, the common challenges they face, and the type of solutions they can leverage to reduce emissions. Secondly, I will speak on how GCC companies can leverage AI and cloud-based platforms for emissions reporting and compliance and improve operational efficiency across multiple environmental assets. In addition, tips on turning environmental data into business decisions that cross operations and sustainability. Lastly, I will share lessons from building a tech startup in the climate and logistics sector. This will be backed by strategies on how leaders can build strong teams while challenging the status quo in this industry.

Have you been to the Dii Desert Energy Leadership Summit before?

Yes, 2024.

Climate action is an important and evolving space with rising regulations. We need leaders, young professionals, and organizations to collaborate and come up with innovative solutions for the energy supply sector in MENA. And the Dii Desert Energy Leadership Summit is an excellent opportunity to do so. For someone considering joining the summit this year, I would highlight that this is the right place to connect with others who are contributing to the energy transition in MENA and internationally. At NGX Global, we understand the power of bringing stakeholders together and enabling cross-border access to climate action that also creates economic opportunities and long-term impact. To fellow sustainability professionals: seize this opportunity and voice your ideas and insights. I also encourage attendees to challenge assumptions, think creatively, and empower current and future leaders to take action.
