Birol Ergüven is a senior energy executive and board member with more than 25 years of experience in electricity markets, infrastructure investments, and regional energy trading. He currently serves as Member of the Board of Limak Energy Group and Limak Investment Company, contributing to the strategic direction of one of Türkiye’s leading private energy and infrastructure groups. 

Ergüven began his professional career as a research engineer before moving into the industrial equipment sector in 1994, where he worked in trading, sales, and marketing of industrial machinery. In 2004, he joined Akenerji as Sales and Marketing Director, where he played an active role in generation planning, wholesale electricity markets, and the transformation of electricity generation and distribution companies following Türkiye’s energy market liberalization and privatization process. 

In 2011, he joined Limak Energy Group, where he served as CEO and currently continues as Member of the Board. During his tenure, he has contributed to the expansion and diversification of the company’s energy portfolio, including the integration of renewable energy assets. He also led the establishment of electricity trading companies in Bulgaria and Serbia, strengthening the group’s presence in Southeast European energy markets. 

In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Ergüven plays an active role in international energy cooperation. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Energy Business Council and Chairman of the Renewable Energy Committee at the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) and is a founding board member of several energy industry associations in Türkiye. 

Ergüven holds BSc and MSc degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU) and an MBA.
