Erik Schäfer is Partner and Chairman of Green Investors AG, an investment firm for the energy transition. Founded and backed by his family office, which dates back to 1988, it is today run as a globally active partnership out of Germany and the UAE.

Within Green Investors‘ focus on «clean molecules», Erik concentrates on hydrogen. Beyond climate targets and decarbonisation, topics he has worked on for many years in Davos, the US, Europe and the Gulf region, his work centres on energy supply in and for Europe: energy sovereignty, energy security, defence capability and new energy partnerships.

Within Green Investors‘«clean electrons» sector, Erik focuses on data centres and artificial intelligence. Drawing on his 30 years’ experience in Silicon Valley, he began investing in early-stage AI companies as far back as 2007, which have since become unicorns. His passion lies in linking this technological revolution with new opportunities in the field of renewable energy.

Erik is the author of Hydrogen Horizons, one of Germany’s leading books on the subject, and an industry partner of the €500 million SENCO Hydrogen Capital Fund, combining technical expertise with an investor’s perspective.

Drawing on more than three decades of entrepreneurial experience in renewable energy and company building, he has helped turn numerous early-stage projects into established companies. His mission is to make clean energy not just viable but economically superior to fossil fuels.
