Thomas is a hydrogen technology pioneer with more than 25 years of experience in developing hydrogen mobility solutions. During his career at BMW, he led the development of two generations of hydrogen combustion engine vehicles, headed the company’s fuel cell technology research, and moved to California in 2006 to lead BMW North America’s hydrogen vehicle and refuelling infrastructure program.
In 2015, Thomas founded the award-winning startup KEYOU, which is now partnering with Daimler Truck to deploy 5,000 HICE trucks by 2031. In 2017, he launched his second venture, water stuff & sun, to commercialize the H2 Battery – a breakthrough hydrogen storage technology using SFEERs. Together with HIOS, a hydrogen infrastructure operating system, the H2 Battery enables the H2 Rolling Pipeline, a highly cost-efficient infrastructure architecture designed to facilitate the storage, distribution, and utilization of renewable energy.
Today, Thomas is engaging with strategic partners across the hydrogen ecosystem to accelerate the development and scaling of the H2 Rolling Pipeline as a transformative infrastructure solution.
