Nareva is a Moroccan energy company active in electricity generation and the water cycle. A subsidiary of Al Mada, Nareva has been actively contributing to the energy transition and the mobilisation of Morocco’s water resources since its creation in 2004.
With an installed electrical capacity of 3 200 MW and annual production exceeding 17 TWh, Nareva is the Kingdom’s leading electricity producer. A pioneer and leader in wind power in Africa, Nareva currently operates eleven wind farms with a total capacity of 1 810 MW, including the Aftissat wind complex (400 MW), one of the largest in Africa. Also active in thermal power generation, Nareva operates the Safi thermal power plant (1 386 MW), the only plant in Africa to use ultra-supercritical technology. Nareva is also active in electricity transmission and has built more than 300 km of HV/EHV lines across the country.
Nareva is also active in the water sector through Amensouss, an innovative water transfer project that uses a dam to transport water to an agricultural area via a 384 km long structure with an annual capacity of 45 million m³. It is continuing this pioneering role with the construction in Dakhla of the world’s first desalination plant powered exclusively by renewable electricity (37 million m³ produced annually and 60 MW of wind power capacity).
Nareva intends to leverage its leadership in renewables and the Kingdom’s assets to become a key player in green hydrogen and its derivatives. Nareva has been selected as part of the Morocco Green Hydrogen Offer to develop green hydrogen, green ammonia and synthetic fuel projects.
