The Global Renewables Alliance (GRA) is the unified private sector voice for renewable energy worldwide. GRA mobilises governments, businesses, and civil society to drive the energy transition at the speed and scale required to secure a clean, just, and energy-secure future.

At the heart of its mission is the global target to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030, a commitment endorsed by all UN nations at COP28 in 2023. Achieving this goal—at least 11,000 GW of renewables—demands bold action. GRA works alongside governments, industry leaders, investors, and international organisations to turn the global ambition into national plans and local projects.

As a coalition of leading renewable energy organisations—including the Global Wind Energy Council, the Global Solar Council, the International Hydropower Association, the International Geothermal Association, the Long Duration Energy Storage Council and the Green Hydrogen Organisation—GRA advocates for policies and investments that accelerate the adoption of renewable energy worldwide.

Supported by hundreds of companies, governments, and NGOs globally, GRA spearheaded the ‘Double Down, Triple Up’ campaign to set the global renewables target at COP28, and has since focused on ensuring implementation— translating commitments into real-world progress.

GRA brings the private-sector voice to high-level events like the G20 Clean Energy Ministerial and COP. The Alliance also brings together forerunners in the energy transition at the Global Renewables Summit in New York City, an annual flagship event dedicated to advancing renewable energy solutions.

GRA’s six member organisations are:

  • Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC)
  • Global Solar Council (GSC)
  • Green Hydrogen Organisation (GH2)
  • The Long Duration Energy Storage Council (LDES)
  • The International Hydropower Association (IHA)
  • The International Geothermal Association (IGA)
