Two New Dii Desert Energy Studies Released

As the global energy transformation moves from ambitious vision to concrete implementation, Dii Desert Energy are pleased to announce two new, in-depth studies that provide tangible blueprints for overcoming the bankability hurdle, detailing two critical pathways to unlock investment:

‘Unlocking The Hydrogen Economy: How Common User Infrastructure Drives Project Bankability with Addleshaw Goddard and ILF Consulting Engineers’

This study presents a model for de-risking investment by sharing capital-intensive assets (e.g., pipelines, terminals, storage) to overcome massive upfront costs and complexity.

‘Data Centers: The New Super Offtakers of Clean Energy with INNIO’s Jenbacher solutions’

This study details how the AI boom is positioning data centers as anchor clients for giga-scale renewable projects in the Middle East. These new “super offtakers” are a key to bankability, providing stable and long-term demand.

These studies will be officially launched at our 15th Dii Desert Energy Leadership Summit this week on 6 & 7 November 2025 in Dubai – we hope you can join us!

Unlocking The Hydrogen Economy: How Common User Infrastructure Drives Project Bankability

A blueprint for Common User Infrastructure based on key case studies in MENA and Sub-Saharan Africa

with Addleshaw Goddard and ILF Consulting Engineers

This report provides a critical blueprint through the use of Common User Infrastructure (CUI) for overcoming the financial and legal hurdles stalling the global hydrogen economy.

The study confronts the primary barrier to progress: bankability. While ambitious giga-scale hydrogen projects hold the promise of energy security and emission reduction, many remain on paper, struggling to secure financing against immense upfront capital requirements and overwhelming complexity across technical, commercial, and legal domains.

The study’s findings are grounded in real-world case studies from key emerging hydrogen markets, including Namibia, Oman, Jordan, and Morocco, showcasing diverse CUI models tailored to local conditions and strategic goals.
